Divorce Tips Please!!? My husband and I have been separated for over a year. I just moved and found out that I cannot file for the divorce which we both decided was the best option for ANOTHER WHOLE YEAR. I have asked him over and over to file it where he lives, even going so far as to offer to pay half the costs, like a responsible person should. The only reply he's given me is to curse at me and call me a line of insulting names. I've tried calling Legal Aid in both our states and they won't help unless he had physically abused me, which he hadn't. (He did everything except hit me.) I need help. Advice, tips, pointers. I've never been through a divorce before, and never had this kind of thing happen to me. I want to divorce this man so bad, and it seems like all he wants to do is call me a whore and hang up on me. This is in reference to a divorce which must occur between a resident of Kentucky and a resident of South Carolina. My husband and I have been separated for over a year. Further information I should note: I make less than $400.00 a month. There is really no way I can afford to eat *and* pay for this divorce myself through most lawyers. :( Which is why I went to legal aid for help and was rejected because he didn't physically abuse me.
Helping a partner through a past divorce, any tips? My partner and I have been together a year. He and his ex-wife divorced nearly two years ago. He still has a barrier up because of it and is still hurting from it. It can be frustrating because although he says he loves me he actually can't look at me and say I love you!! Anybody got any tips how I can be supportive without feeling like I'm not getting what I need?
Anyone got any tips on complicated divorce made easy? I left my Wife In Aug 2000, Haven't seen her or heard from her since. Now I find out that to divorce her, I have to give up my legal rights to her three children by another man that I didn't even know existed. I just want to be rid of her taint for good. But I'd really rather not spend thousands on legal fees. Is there an easy way out of this?
Pre divorce tips needed!? Contemplating divorce. Men what do you wish you did before you divorced.Anything you think I should know.custody isnt an issue
Tips for military spouses considering divorce? Anyone have any tips for a military spouse if a divorce seems imminent? It's not entirely the same. There are a few federal laws that apply to military divorces that don't apply to civilians like the Solidiers' and Sailors Relief Act. I was actually trying to make sure nothing was missed beyond finding an attorney though.
Divorce tips for an Army wife of 5 years in Texas- own house, but no kids!? My husband and I were married for 5 years- he joined a week after we got married. After his 1st deployment he came home an alcoholic and got physically and verbally aggressive while drunk. I stuck by him because I wanted to support him through whatever he was going through, but he cheated on me and things got rough. He refused marriage counseling and I just did what I could to keep it together. Almost a year ago he returned from a 2nd deployment and things have been much worse. He's still drinking (now drinking and driving) and the abuse has gotten worse and no longer requires alcohol. About 4 weeks ago he moved out and is living with a friend (and his new girlfriend). He stopped his pay to my account and as an E-5 only has to give me $250 per check/$500 a month! I had to call IG to help me get a protective order because of his violent history and they are now investigating him for adultery (he admitted to cheating now and back then). I have since been looking for a job, but my car was being repaired for several weeks and I'm just now able to follow through with interviews. In the mean time $500 isn't going to pay our $1200 mortgage or $650 in car payments/insurance. I don't care if the credit cards and student loans get paid, I can recover from that, but I'm left in this house and feel like he just pulled the rug out from under me. I still think this is Post traumatic stress disorder, but I can't let him destroy my life because of it. Texas and the Army have weird laws that don't seem to help me much and I NEED all the help I can get. If I get a job and can pay the bills will I still have to sell this house? How does a judge decide who gets what? I had foster children before, that WAS my job, but obviously this wasn't a good environment for them so I'm now looking for a job. I was also a substitute teacher and summertime is here... I'm not sitting in self pity, I just don't want to loose my life. I can't leave here until I find homes for my animals- the house I'm talking about is a small farm so the horses, and other animals deserve to have good homes, but he says if I sell them he'll sue me for half of anything I sell! Ok, this is getting longer and longer, thank you all for reading and answering. JAG won't help me because we own property I have to get a civilian lawyer, but with no money can't pay a retainer. I'm not being a helpless victim, I'm just not sure what to do...

I am in the process of getting a divoice we have not been to court yet. We are going to try to work out the details of the divorce between us instead of letting the lawyers or going to court. I lost my business temporarily to spouse while divorcing. Any tips for entrepreneur looking for work? While it seems unfair, it would appear that the court systems are so overwhelmed with divorce cases that i am out of work while still owning a viable business. My ex got control temporarily of our business and has been very successful at delaying my share. As a result I need to find another career. Has this happened to you and what did you find when you attempted to look for work from employers who seem to be afraid of entrepreneurs?
Im considering a divorce but have no idea what to do. How do I go about filing for a divorce? Any tips? I want to make this go as smoothly as possible (oxymoron I know) but I just want this to be over asap. The husband is emotionally unavailable and is constantly flirting with other girls, I think he might be cheating on me again, and he's never around for me physically or emotionally. I told him how I felt about it and he hasn't changed, so now I'm divorcing him. We are both military so if answers are military friendly it would be a plus. I tried researching on it through JAG but haven't found anything useful. I would also like help finding a good lawyer who is somewhat budget friendly if possible. I am new to this so please be nice with the answers! I'm not here to be degraded, just want some advice!
Tips & sample document/template for divorce agreements? Wife cheated & asked for divorce, I went to court & lawyer but said it'd backfire me (I'd loose the child as she's minor/4yo). So we came to conclusion (verbally) that we would agree on some points about child custody. Anyone has tips or sample document/template on written agreements? The draft points: Custody/guardianship/rights: the child would be under my custody, means I am fully responsible as her guardian & sponsor (her residence visa, we live abroad). I have the rights (?) to take her to other country (better job etc). Living place: mother will "exit" from the house and get her own. Visitation/Caring: one week with me (sleep over), one week with the mother. Both can visit any days. Financial/Costing: I pay full for child school. I won't take a cent from her (she works), she won't take a cent from me. 2 of 3 saving & fixed deposit accounts would be allocated solely for the child's future. School holidays: split half half, including when going back to home country. More? I can't believe there's no one answering it. I thought there are many divorced couples here.
Tips for getting through a divorce? I am currently separated and fixing to get a divorce because I have finally had enough of being treated like crap. But knowing it's for the best doesn't ease the pain. I still love my husband very much...what can I do to make things easier to deal with? What were some things that got you through your divorce and helped you move on? Counseling isn't really an option since I won't have health insurance and can't afford to pay for it out of pocket.
Any tips on getting your life back on track after divorce? My wife divorced me after to years,we lacked comunication and i didn't respect her bounderies. She disconected from me months before she filed and never saw it coming,i was so blind and caught up in work trying to make a better life for us.She says she isn't in love with me anymore, but i love her no matter what.I haven't seen her in three months and feel stuck in the past, its all a blur,i have experienced the grief, loss, denial, depression and everything thats associateed with divorce .In my opinion its the worst experience anyone can endure.I have sought therapy, both group and private.I understand the emotions im having but can't seem to let go of her because i love her so dam much.I wanted to make it right, i wanted to prove to her what a great husband i can be.She isn't the type to linger in the past, she seems to be much stronger than me in this department..Im just a nice down to earth guy that misses his wife,i feel alot of shame and guilt.I feel my life is over. The divorce and seperation is one thing, but everthing else that has followed is just as bad.I moved out of the home i loved,i left my job because it was to hard fo me to remain in the same town as her.I lost my my med.insurance.My whole life has been ripped out from under me.Everything i worked so hard for,for us.Is just gone in a flash. Its overwhelming. Its painful.I don't knowif i have the strength to carry on.Everyday i wake up the shock just hits me all over again.I am paralized.
Can anyone offer practical advice and/or tips to deal with the emotional rolercoaster leading up to divorce..? Following my wife (7yrs) leaving me at christmas, she kept me in Limbo for weeks and weeks telling me she was unsure and confused about our relationship, yet having her 'wild ride' while i tried all avenues to save us. This caused me no end of emotional termoil, which i struggled to deal with. Well, it is well and truly over now, i have given up chasing and she wants all of her stuff from the house and i am guessing she will soon want her share of the equity and a divorce. I am having a real hard time dealing with the emotional side as much as the practical side (sorting house, her stuff, money etc etc). Can anyone offer advice on practical tips to really help me? You know the problems - struggling to get out of bed, finding the enthusiasm for work, just finding a reason to go another day and deal with more of the same rubbish.... All advice welcome...

Will a Swiss Bank Account help me keep more money after a divorce? I am a very long ways away from marriage but with all the divorces going on today, I just want to know if there are tips to help keep more money if a divorce were to ever happen. How do you deal with your father beginning to date after divorce? My parents were seperated for 3 years before they finally got divorced a year ago. Now, my father is seeing another woman. I live with my father, so it's weird when he comes home at 3 AM and I know he was just doing...things...with her. Plus, my mother is one of Jehovah's Witnesses, and used that as shelter to keep her divorce from feeling real. But, in her religion, adultery is the only true grounds for divorce. So now that my father has admittedly slept with another woman, my mother feels like he cheated on her. So I have to deal with her sobbing and venting to me ALL THE TIME about my father being a "horny bastard", and I have to deal with my dad thinking that it doesn't bother me to hear about his love life. Any tips on dealing with the surrounding insanity?

Know any good books on stepparenting? or any tips from your own experience? I am about to get engaged to my divorced boyfriend, who has 50% custody of his 5 year old daughter. I have never been married or had children before, but I was a nanny. If anyone has read any good books about stepparenting, or has any insight to share from their own experience, I would appreciate it. My main concerns are not with the stepchild (our relationship is strong so far) but rather my role in the family. We do hope to have a child in the future as well.
Any tips on coping with abandonment issues? I am 25, both parents divorced when I was 13, I am a reminder to them of their marriage so they dont want me, not interested at all in me or my life, left me to deal with a lot of bad stuff by myself. They are not in my life anymore. I accept this, and I am 25 but sometimes, it still makes me a bit sad. Especially when my friends and my boyfriend have supportive parents. How can I stay strong and not get jealous?

Any tips for dating a divorced man? I'm dating a man that was married for 4 years. He seems like a wonderful guy. For people that have been divorced, or have dated or been in relationships with someone that's divorced, is it any different then dating someone that's never been married? This is a first for me. Is there anything I should be aware of, or sensitive to? I really like this guy, and I would like to do all I can to make whatever may happen as good as possible. Nope, no kids. :) Yes, it's final! He's been alone for about a year. I only ask because this is totally new ground for me, and I'm curious. :) Better to know ahead of time.

Tips on getting my husband to stop slurping? Usually this behavior from him doesn't bother me all that much - I've been in a relationship with him for ten years now, I'm pretty used to his bad habits. Although now that my business has taken off, I'm being invited to very nice dinners and events - he slurps soup, pasta, anything with liquids very loudly, and draws attention to himself in restaurants - I know he realises it, but is so embarassed about it that he gets mad if you point it out or suggest he change the behavior. Please note, this isn't one of those situations I'm going to divorce him over - so please leave that out of your answers. Again, it doesn't bother me when it's just us - but I'm afraid of what people will think when we're out in public. And how he'll feel when it happens. Any tips?
Marraige mistake. Need divorce ASAP!!!? My best friend got herself into a crazy situation. Now, as her friend i need to try to help her out of it. (Even though she hid the whole thing from me.) She wants it fast, and cheap. Also, where should she file for it, if they got married in city hall in Manhattan, NY? She lives in Yonkers with her mom, and he lives in New Jersey by himself. So now she wants a divorce and so does he, but fast and cheap, cuz they are both 19 years old. I really want to try to help her out, cuz she is stressed out and upset, cuz she made a stupid decision, and didn't listen to me. But i feel, as a friend, that i should be there for her and do what i can to get her out of this mess. Can anyone help me with some advice or tips for her? Please!!! Thanks in advance!

Any tips on how to move from MI to AZ when you have nothing? My brother's wife left Michigan last October with his 2 children and ended up in Arizona (she moved in with her sister and mother). She left him with an unbelievable amount of debt and he was forced to move in with our parents and file bankruptcy. He also had to file for divorce to get any rights for his children. The rights he ended up with? 3 months for the summer!! When his children are not here he is a mess. He needs to move to AZ so he can be a part of their daily lives. He has a hard time saving for he has very little money after child support. I would like any tips on how I can help my brother make this move. If you had a similar situation I would like to know how you did it. How long does it take to make a move like this? And what do you have to do to make it happen? Thanks in advance for everyones input.
