Di you think that because you MARRIED OLD, you would avoid the whole divorce thing?
You can see someone who married at 18 throwing in the towel at 38 when the kids are grown. But suppose you married over 35? Did you think that you would stay marrried, beyond that whole "I'm not young anymore, I need to get out now" thing?

- i believe thats the way the world is starting to think
- nope.....in fact, sometimes I wonder if people who have lived so long on their own are really going to do what it takes to make it work, they waited so long to begin with....
- I would probably stay married if i married over 35, i mean by then i would have more sense on who i really want to be
- Happiness never gets boring, but being in a horrible marriage or relationship does. I'll take one day or year of happiness or till sadness do us part any day.
- It is true that the older and couple are when they married the higher chance they will stay married Source: Statistic Canada
- no divorce is the same no matter what age the only difference is the knowledge you have if you married later in life you get to have more patience and are able to deal with more****
- No, I would not - I'd rather be old and lonely than stuck in a horrible marriage. Been there once, stayed too long, would not do that again!
- hey now, 35 isn't OLD. I'm 39 and getting married this summer. He's 35. We've both been thru this before and not many people go into a marriage wondering when they will get divorced. It can happen to anyone, at any age.
- It isn't the age thing, it is the mature thing! Are you mature enough to handle marriage and if you are willing to follow your vows, your marriage will last!
- You can make poor choices at 35 yo. You can make poor choices at 65 yo. Yr Question: Did you think that you would stay marrried, beyond that whole "I'm not young anymore, I need to get out now" thing? Yes. Being married is not easy, ever. But if you stick it out through the rough times, it can be really really great.
- Yep...I got married at 39, divorced at 43...so dont think I'll be doing that again
- This all depends on the individual or persons in the marriage... To me divorce should not even be an option in most of all marriages ... Divorce should only happen in abuse cases, adultery that does not stop or abandonment of a spouse. Even when the kids are grown divorce should or never be an option.
- Every single morning that you wake up is the 1st. day of the rest of your life!! No one should ever stay in an unhappy situation. Life is too short, and very precious. Don't waste a second. By the way, you indeed do NOT have to have a 'mate' in your life to be happy!! fyi
- I would have much rather been married as a younger woman. I would have had many more happy years with the person I'm in love with now. As it stands, he is a divorce', and I have never been married, but am the proud mother of three children. We plan to marry within the next year or so. We both are 43, and I feel like we may only have 30-35 years left together if the lord says so. I guarantee, that I will do my best to make sure that the time we have left together is joyful and full of love. Why do you feel the need to get out now?
